Set It Off Concert

Last night, I had the pleasure of attending the Set It Off concert at Ace of Spades! This was my first concert in quite some time, as I am usually not one for the big crowds and pushing and shoving but overall I had a wonderful time. I saw them for their “Self-Titled Tour”, which supports their first self-titled independent album released in November 2025.

Set It Off is my boyfriend’s favorite band of all time, and so when he invited me to go with him to their concert for his 19th birthday I couldn’t say no lol. I was a little nervous as I tend to not be good with crowds for one, and for two the security was super pushy so I couldn’t take my vape in, which ngl made me stressed cause that shit is one of my only coping mechanisms.

They played a bunch of good songs, from what I remember the setlist included: Wolf In Sheep’s Clothing, Wolf In Sheep’s Clothing REBORN, Projector, Killer in the Mirror, Partners in Crime (with Vana), Pathological, Why Worry, I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead, Fake Ass Friends, Rotten, Duality, Unopened Windows, Parasite, Bleak December, Punching Bag, and Evil People. I am probably missing some but idrc to look through all my videos for that.

My favorite part was when they sang Partners in Crime with Vana, one of their openers, I had never heard of her before but she was fucking awesome! Her voice was amazing, and I loved her opening act, her guitarists were insanely skilled, and she knew how to get the crowd riled up. I started tearing up when I heard them play just because of how much fun it was.

I ended up getting kicked in the face by crowd surfers a few times, one of them scraped my nose up pretty good with their platform boots. When the first mosh pit was opening up I got thrown around pretty bad cause I was standing nearby the edge of it, but thankfully my boyfriends sister and my gf grabbed me and helped me stabilize myself so I didn’t eat shit on the concrete.

I also had a few encounters with strange and rude individuals (a given in a crowd of a sold out show), one of which kept standing directly in front of my bf, and like when we moved further up to see (we are both really short, 5’0” and 5’1”) she for some reason followed us up there and blocked his view a second time??? Which like girl why you are not the only one here lmfao. She was drunk and like running into me as well during the openers which was annoying. While Set It Off was playing I had the displeasure of some really short man who needed to shave badly, whom I did not know, grinding on my ass and grabbing my shoulders until his dick got hard. That was really weird and uncomfortable but I just started being more aggressive with my thrashing around to the music and eventually he gave up.

There were also good people in the crowd, kind souls who gave me bracelets, helped me when I got pushed around, and helped me not get separated from my group. Not all people suck! Which, thank you, kind strangers. I still loved the atmosphere just because of those individuals alone.

Overall I had a lot of fun, it was super enjoyable to see my boyfriend that happy, and despite all the annoying mishaps during the night, I think it will be remembered as a fun occasion, and I honestly might attend more concerts in the future. I never thought I would, but for music I love, I think it’s worth it even if I can’t bring my vape into the venue lmfao.
